Are Cell Phones Safe for Your Children?
In the 21st century, cell phones have taken a dominant position in the world, and have gained unbelievable popularity. You can see people chat over phones everywhere, at home, at street, at shops, at school. Thus they have become integral part of our lives. Though it is convenient for us to get touch with others, we should not ignore healthy problems that cell phones have caused, especially the kids’ healthy problems. So is it safe for kids to use cell phones?
As we know, cell phones are not safe for children because they emit radiations. These radiations are very similar to microwave radiations, which can induce electrical activity in that part of kids’ body. Actually, the electrical activity is harmful to mental and physical development of children. Therefore, most countries have taken measures to make sure children use cell phones safely. For instance, In France, no children under 16 can use cell phones and it is illegal to advertise to children who are under 12. The Great Britain takes a limitation on children under 12 who are not allowed to use mobile phones. In Japan, children under 18 are not allowed to use cell phones. In both Israel and Russia, cell phone use is banned for children under the age of 12.
In my opinion, it is meaningful to make these regulations to protect children. Kids have weak self-control ability, and they are often dependent on their parents. So parents play a significant role in child care. But I think it is impossible for parents to forbid kids’ use on cell phones. But parents can guide their children use phones safely. Parents should firstly let their children know why they have a cell phone. Make it clear that it’s only to be used to contact Mom and Dad, and then establish penalties for breaking that rule.
What’s more, make sure teens are clear that cell phones and driving do not mix. NO texting while driving and only allow calls when using a hand-free device.
Parents, do you want to be the world’s best parent? I believe the answer is positive. Thus you should pay much attention to your children health on cell phone use.
